In 2020, the Government of Nepal (GoN) launched the “Sanitary Pad Distribution” initiative to provide free sanitary pads in government schools across the country. Since then, the GoN has allocated at least NPR 3.42 billion for the initiative (excluding figures for 2022/23, which are not available; and for 2021/22 which is a combined budget for pads and text books). Queensland Government/Australia

Share the Dignity in Queensland schools

In 2022, the Ministry of Education of the Queensland Government partnered with Queensland based NGO Share the Dignity to provide free period products to a selected number of schools, including the installation of vending machines. In 2023, the Queensland Government committed to invest more than AUS$35 million over six years to expand the initiative to install, maintain, and stock dignity vending machines, as well as providing access to an educational program in all Queensland state schools.
